Grand Rapids Comic-Con is a comic book and popular arts convention that will be held on October 12, 2013, at the Home School Building, 5625 Burlingame Ave SW in Wyoming, Michigan. This show will feature a huge vending room selling comic books, anime/manga, movie memorabilia, action figures, toys, and other cool stuff as well as the following:
• Three to four nationally renown comic book artists and/or creators who have worked for the likes of DC Comics, Marvel Comics, or some other national publisher who have name recognition within the comic collector community;
• One or two Hollywood celebrities that have played iconic characters in the past or have contributed in some way to the nerd film community (director, producer, special effects artist, etc.);
• An “Artist Alley” featuring a selection of independent comic artists representing the best from the Midwest;
• A gaming room that will feature board games, card games, and other events geared toward the gamer;
• A film festival that will feature short and full length movies from the independent film world sponsored in-name only by the Compass College Of The Cinematic Arts;
• An activity room that will feature a wide array of events including a costume contest, seminars and presentations from show guests, and other events unique to the popular arts world;
• Appearance by the 501st Legion of Stormtroopers, the premiere Star Wars costuming group in the world;
• Appearance by the Michigan Ghostbusters, a costuming group that celebrates the Ghostbusters franchise;
• An anime/manga room;
• And more to be determined at a later date.
